Visitors can explore the ever-growing electronic collection Far East: A Point of Attraction on the Presidential Library's portal. This collection provides information about the region's history and current state.
Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, Russian explorers moved eastwards and steadily explored Eastern Siberia and then the Pacific coast and American coast. After the establishment of the Russian-Chinese border in the mid-19th century, the Far East became the backbone of Russia's ocean power and center of international trade. By the early 20th century, its geography had been thoroughly studied, mineral deposits had been discovered, and modern ports had begun to be built.
Since the start of the 21st century, the Far East has been a region of accelerated development and has drawn significant attention from entrepreneurs in Russia and neighboring countries. They are investing increasingly more capital in creating new high-tech businesses in the region.
The collection Far East: A Point of Attraction includes more than 1,500 depository items, including archival materials, travel studies, photographs, maps, and documents. It has sections such as Eastern Economic Forum, Port City of Vladivostok, Far Eastern Federal District, History of the Far East, Economics, International Relations, and Science, Education, and Culture.
Thanks to the Presidential Library's portal, this electronic collection is available to users anywhere in the world.
