On September 5, 2024, the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation and Sakhalin State University signed a new cooperation agreement and a route map for the years 2024-2025 during the IX Eastern Economic Forum.

The event was attended by the Director General of the Library, Yuri Nosov, and Rector of Sakhalin University, Alexander Samardak, who signed the document.

This partnership between the two organizations has been ongoing for over a year, with the first cooperation agreement being signed in 2019. Sakhalin University also has a remote access center to the Presidential Library's resources, providing teachers and students with full access to its electronic library collection.

Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov commented: "The new agreement and route map signed today will give a fresh impetus to our organizations' collaboration."

As part of the route map, it is planned to include digital copies of documents from the Sakhalin State University collection in the electronic collection of the Presidential Library, and create a thematic section dedicated to the research conducted by university scholars.

It is also planned to organize and hold joint scientific and educational events related to the history of Sakhalin and the Far East, such as exhibitions, video lectures, and other projects, including a virtual exhibition titled Literature of Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands and a round table discussion on Sakhalin Writers.

Additionally, the Presidential Library will offer additional professional development programs for employees of the Sakhalin State University, and students from the university will have the opportunity to participate in the Presidential Library's student work competition.

On the portal of the Presidential Library, readers can explore the collection Sakhalin Region: Pages of History, which includes travel essays, geographical and historical descriptions of the region from the mid-19th to early 20th century, as well as excerpts from newsreels from 1929.
