
Films and video lectures online – for schoolchildren and adults
Who is a "space tanker"? And why is it called like that? What are the features of the Russian language during the Soviet era? Which tank was called the "Victory Tank"? And what should children and teenagers read? These and more questions will have answers on the Presidential Library's TV Channel from September 16 to 30, through films, video lectures and webinars.
On September 17, the anniversary of the birth of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, the father of modern space exploration and rocket science will be celebrated. To mark this occasion, a series of special video materials will be shown, featuring footage of his life and work, as well as documentaries and films about space exploration.
Another film, Cosmonautics in the USSR, will showcase the achievements of Soviet scientists in rocket and space technology. Additionally, video lectures such as 106 Minutes of Yuri Gagarin: Declassified Details of the First Spaceflight, Aspiring to the Sky, and The International Space Station - the Orbital Construction Site of the Century are presented.
On the Day of the Gunsmith, a professional holiday for employees of the Russian defense industry, which is celebrated annually on September 19 in our country, a number of videos are posted on the Presidential Library's portal. The documentary Tula Weapons of the Romanov Era, produced by the Presidential Library, tells the story of the Tula State Weapons Museum, which dates back to the 15th century, its collection, and the history of Russian weaponry during the Romanov Dynasty.
The video film The Leningrad Addresses of M. Kalashnikov, produced by the specialists of the Presidential Library, celebrates a little-known period in the life of the weapons designer - his work in Leningrad during the 1940s.
Several events are being held to commemorate the anniversary of linguist and lexicographer Sergey Ozhegov's birth on September 22, including the Russian Language in the Era of Globalization and Russian Language of the Soviet Period conferences.
On September 24, the 285th anniversary of the birth of Grigory Potyomkin, a statesman, military figure, and diplomat who served as Field Marshal General is celebrated. The video lectures 255 Years of the Beginning of the Reign of Catherine II and The Russian Army during the Reign of Catherine II provide an opportunity to learn more about this era and the life of Prince Potyomkin-Tavrichesky, who lived and served his country during this time.
The broadcast of the Presidential Library's webinar, The Golden Age of Childhood, is timed to coincide with the Day of Educators and All Preschool Workers, which is celebrated annually in our country on September 27. Users of the portal will have the opportunity to learn about little-known facts from the history of education and leisure for the younger generation. These are perfectly illustrated with ancient alphabets, atlases from the 18th century, textbooks from the 19th century, entertaining books for children's reading, moral books, as well as magazines and catalogs for parents.
Through the video lectures of the Presidential Library's educational project, video lecture Knowledge of Russia, experts opinions on teen literature are presented.
On September 30th, the 83rd anniversary of the start of the Battle of Moscow during the Great Patriotic War is celebrated. The Presidential Library is offering the opportunity to watch films from the On the Way to Great Victory cycle of the historical TV channel 365 Days. The documentary Defense of Moscow, created by the authors, introduces viewers to the key moments of the city's defense through interviews with veterans and expert historians, as well as newsreel footage. The film Moscow. Autumn 1941 tells the story of the preparations of the city for repelling the Nazi attack.
The premiere screening of the video tutorial series Russia in World War II continues in the educational block of TV Channel, the Presidential Library's channel. One lesson from the series is aired daily at 10:00 on weekdays. A total of 28 lessons have been produced. The project's scientific director is Anatoly Torkunov - Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Russia in WWII cycle is created for in-depth historical study and exam preparation. Each lesson includes QR codes to primary sources from the unique World War II Archive Documents information resource, a joint project between the Presidential Library and the Federal Archives.
Video lectures are available on the portal of the Presidential Library. These lectures cover topics that complement the school curriculum and provide additional knowledge about Russia. The video lecture Knowledge of Russia focuses on the history of the Russian state, law, and the Russian language as the official language of the country.
Experts from scientific and educational institutions in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other cities give lectures on these topics. The lectures are broadcast on the Presidential Library's portal around the clock in the TV Channel section. Additionally, the schedule for upcoming broadcasts is also available in this section.
