3 October 2024

On October 3, 2024, during the II Forum of the Union State Russia and Belarus: Common History, Common Destiny, which was held in Kaliningrad, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the Russian Federation and the State Scientific Institution Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The document was signed by Yuri Nosov, General Director of the Presidential Library, and Vadim Lakiza, Director of the Institute of History. The agreement aims to preserve and promote the historical, cultural, and scientific heritage of both countries, as well as the Russian and Belarusian languages. It also includes measures for organizing access to the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library and for sharing digital copies of documents.

Furthermore, the agreement envisions the exchange of information resources and participation in joint events between the two institutions.

The Presidential Library has been actively cooperating with institutions in the Republic of Belarus since 2010. During this time, approximately 20 centers for remote access to the Presidential Library's resources have been established in various institutions throughout the country, including libraries, archives, universities, and Russian houses in Minsk, Brest, and Gomel. Additionally, since 2019, the Presidential Library has operated an access center for the ETALON-ONLINE information retrieval system developed by the Belarusian National Legal Information Center.

Staff members from the Presidential Library regularly participate in major international events alongside their Belarusian counterparts, where they share experiences and knowledge.

On the portal of the Presidential Library, users can access the electronic collection Russia - Belarus: the History of Relations. This collection includes official documents, archival materials, and scientific research on Russia-Belarus cooperation. Most of these materials focus on the participation of Belarusians in the Great Patriotic War, including periodicals, partisan newspapers, and documentaries.

Both countries are connected by shared trials and victories, and they share the goal of promoting historical memory to preserve their sovereign statehood and unique national cultures.
