Virtual tour of the legendary cruiser "Aurora" available on the Presidential Library’s portal
In 2025, we will mark the 125th anniversary of the launch of the legendary cruiser "Aurora", a warship that, on November 7, 1917, fired a blank shot and gave the signal to take the Winter Palace, marking the beginning of the October Revolution and radically changing the fate of Russia.
Presidentila Library invite guests to visit the secluded corners of the legendary cruiser "Aurora" and see exhibits inaccessible to most tourists thanks to a virtual tour, which has been provided by the Presidential Library in conjunction with the Central Naval Museum.
From any corner of the world, one can now not only take a walk around the warship, but also have a bird's eye view of it, examine in detail the location of the cruiser and its scale on the city map, and admire the panoramas of St. Petersburg from an unusual angle.
The upper deck, including the conning tower, the engine room and boiler room, the ship's infirmary, the church and other premises of the Aurora, are open to interactive tourists. The exhibits of the ship-museum tell about its history, service and life of sailors, participation in long-range military campaigns, revolutionary events of 1917, and the Great Patriotic War. A separate exposition is devoted to the history of medicine in the navy.
It should be noted that the staff of the branch of the Central Naval Museum on the cruiser Aurora selected the most interesting, key objects of the exposition for a more detailed presentation. Each of them is accompanied by comprehensive information about the exhibit itself, its history, context, etc.
Virtual projects are an actively developing area of activity of the Presidential Library, thanks to which the electronic repository becomes available to the wide range of users. These are available on the Presidential Library’s portal in the Exhibitions section at the link https://www.prlib.ru/about_exhibition.
