Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation celebrates its 31st anniversary
Today, November 15th, 2024 marks the 31st anniversary of the establishment of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation.
To celebrate this occasion, the Presidential Library has launched a virtual tour of an exhibition titled Culture under State Patronage: From the Ministry of the Imperial Court to the Administrative Directorate of the President of Russia, which was on display at the library from November 21st to December 29th, 2023, and was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Directorate's establishment.
The exhibition project of the Presidential Library presents the history of the institution. It focuses on the support of culture, art, and science by the government body that supports the activities of the head of state.
The exhibition is based on archival documents, drawings, plans, rare books from the 19th and 21st centuries, photographs, news reels, and other materials from the collection of the Presidential Library, as well as materials provided by partners.
On the portal of the Presidential Library, the electronic collection The Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation: History and Modernity is available. It is divided into two parts: modern and historical. The modern part tells about the Administration of Affairs of the President, while the historical part is dedicated to the Ministry of Imperial Court and Estates.
Both parts have several sections, including the constituent documents of the administration and the ministry, descriptions of ceremonies and coronation celebrations, information about awards and promotions, and more.
The Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation was founded on November 15, 1993, by Decree No. 735-rp of the President of Russia. It was created by transforming the Main Social and Industrial Directorate of the Presidential Administration and has the status of a federal executive branch, headed by the head of state. However, its history dates back to the establishment of the Ministry of the Imperial Court and Estates in the Russian Empire in 1826.
After numerous transformations and reforms, in 1993 the Administrative Directorate of the President succeeded the Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, the Council of Ministers, and the 4th Main Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Health.
