New electronic reading room of Presidential Library opened in Tomsk

On November 22, 2024, the grand opening of the new electronic reading room at the Presidential Library was held at the Skazka Library, part of the Tomsk Municipal Library System.

The event was attended by representatives from the Administration of the Kirovsky District of Tomsk, the City Municipal Library System, and the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based at Pushkin Tomsk Regional Universal Science Library.

During the ceremony, it was emphasized that the Skazka library serves as a model for other libraries that have been opened as part of the nationwide Culture project. The addition of access to the resources of the Presidential Library will enhance the library's service capabilities and expand the range of services offered to readers and patrons.

Elena Bazhina, the Head of the Tomsk Regional Center of the Presidential Library, discussed the benefits that users can expect to receive. She also introduced educational projects and electronic collections from the Presidential Library. These include a series of digitized archival documents, films, and photographs titled World War II in Archival Documents, as well as the collections Defence and Siege of Leningrad and Memory of the Great Victory.

To date, there are more than 1,700 electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library in the Russian Federation and 35 other countries. Visitors can explore the entire range of the library's collections, which contain hundreds of thousands of digital copies of rare archival materials that reflect the history and cultural heritage of our country. They can also participate in various projects hosted by the electronic reading rooms, which are located at national libraries and representative offices of Rossotrudnichestvo.
