New project launched – Daniil Granin National Literary Award
December 4, 2024, at the XI Congress of the Russian Book Union, they announced the launch of a new project - the Daniil Granin National Literary Award. The delegation from the Presidential Library, led by Director General Yuri Nosov, attended the congress.
The sponsors of the award are the Russian Book Union, the government of St. Petersburg, and the publishing group Eksmo-AST.
The purpose of the award is to find and support talented authors who can create high-quality literary works in the tradition of Russian prose and contribute to the preservation and promotion of fiction, following the example of D. Granin.
The award will be given out every two years. Anyone who writes prose in Russian (novels, novellas, short story collections, and/or individual short stories) is eligible to become a winner, regardless of their age or location. The award has three categories: Large Prose, Short Prose (essays, short stories, etc.), and Seekers (promoting scientific ideas through literature, technology, and artistic images).
Applications are accepted from December 4th, 2024 until February 4th, 2025 for the Daniil Granin National Literary Award. The winners will be announced and awarded during the St. Petersburg International Book Salon event in May 2025. The Presidential Library, Russian Book Union, and the government of St. Petersburg are working together on long-term projects and have been implementing joint initiatives. Each year, the Presidential Library takes part in the St. Petersburg International Book Salon organized by the Russian Book Union and supported by the government.
On the portal of the Presidential Library, a collection dedicated to Daniil Granin, a classic of modern Russian literature and honorary citizen of St. Petersburg, is available. The collection includes official documents, texts of his works, photos, and video materials that reflect his public activities. It also includes a documentary film produced by the Presidential Library based on his story about his life, the war, the beginning of his writing career, and the heroes of his time.
