Video lecture at Presidential Library dedicated to unknown episodes from life of intelligence officer Georges Pak held

On January 29th, 2025 the Presidential Library hosted a lecture about the life and career of Georges Pak, a French civil servant who was recruited by Soviet intelligence in 1943 and has since provided valuable information to Moscow, including details about NATO's plans.

The lecture was given by Sergey Ratz, a candidate of political sciences and member of the Writers' Union of Russia, president of the Foundation for the Support of State Security Reserve Officers. 

The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg‑Vyacheslav Kalganov, Head of the Department of Information and Relations with International Organizations in St. Petersburg.

Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library and Chairman of the St. Petersburg regional Branch of the All-Russian Public and State Organization Russian Military Historical Society, solemnly presented Sergei Ratz with a certificate of membership in the Society.

Yuri Nosov noted: "This is a very significant event. It symbolizes the unification of efforts of all those who are sincerely interested in preserving and popularizing the military-historical heritage of our country. The Russian Military Historical Society is engaged not only in the study of history, but also in the active education of young people. We strive to pass on knowledge about the exploits of our ancestors, about the glorious pages of our history, so that the younger generation would be proud of their past and look boldly into the future."

A series of lectures on the history of the state security agencies of our country is held as part of the video lecture Knowledge of Russia. The purpose of the cycle is to create a positive image of the Russian state and domestic intelligence services. The audience is told about outstanding employees, the most striking, interesting and significant operations, events in the history of the Russian special services, and the main directions of their activities.
