Presidential Library held regional seminar-meeting on historical education for specialists of the education system of Far Eastern Federal District

On February 12th, 2025, a regional seminar-meeting was held with the support of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District to discuss historical education and counteracting the falsification of history using information resources and educational projects from the Presidential Library. The event took place via video conference.

Alexey Alekseev, acting head of the department for public projects at the office of the plenipotentiary representative, Yuri Nosov, director general of the Presidential Library, and Alexander Bugaev, first deputy minister of education, delivered opening remarks.

Experts presented reports on various topics related to historical education and the fight against historical falsification:

– Oleg Shor, Director of the Tyumen Branch of the Presidential Library and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, spoke about the importance of historical education for young people using electronic resources from the Presidential Library.

– Lyudmila Lagunova, Deputy Director of the Institute for Teaching Content and Methods and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, discussed historical education in schools.

– Igor Solonko, Director of Scientific and Educational Work at the Presidential Library and Doctor of Philosophy, emphasized the importance of promoting traditional spiritual and moral values through projects and activities supported by the Presidential Library.

– Alexey Voronovich, Deputy Director of the Department for Scientific and Educational Work - Head of the Scientific Expertise Department of the Presidential Library Collections, Candidate of Historical Sciences, presented the topic The educational potential of the Presidential Library's information resources through the example of a collection of digitized documents, films and photographic materials related to the Second World War.

– Yuri Semyonov, Director of the Nikolaev Center, Library and Archive of the First President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), branch of the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), spoke on The resources of the Presidential Library in the development of educational institutions, libraries, and communities in Yakutia.

The participants of the regional seminar-meeting were introduced to the possibilities of utilizing the information resources of the Presidential Library and the experience of collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation on matters related to interaction in the field of history education.
