4 March 2025

On March 4, 2025, the Presidential Library of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation participated in the III St. Petersburg Scientific and Technical Forum on Defence Technologies VOENTECH. The event was organized by the D.F. Ustinov Baltic State Technical University VOENMEH. The forum marked the 150th anniversary of the founding of Tsarevich Nicholas Vocational School, which later became the Leningrad Mechanical Institute and then the BSTU VOENMEH.

Director of the Department of Scientific and Educational Work at the Presidential Library Igor Solonko spoke at a round table discussion on Axiological Factors of Victory in Hybrid Warfare: Managing Meanings, Protecting Historical Truth.

In his speech, the speaker emphasized the importance of creating a culture of learning and studying history through primary sources. He cited the example of the Presidential Library, which has successfully implemented the use of QR codes to link to electronic collections of more than 15,000 historical documents and materials in unified history textbooks for grades 10-11. This allows students and teachers to not only study a specific paragraph, but also refer to documentary sources or archival materials from the library. In today's information age, where there is a lot of misinformation, these textbooks help to create a culture of relying on reliable sources among students and teachers.

Igor Solonko also talked about the digital collection Family and Traditional Family Values in Russia as the Basis of Russian Statehood, which is available on the Presidential Library's portal. This collection serves as an example of how to promote Russian traditional values through electronic means.

The collection contains documents and materials that reflect the history of the traditional family institution and state policies aimed at strengthening families in Russia, from the formation of ancient Russian statehood to the present day. It was created to make it easier to search for necessary documents and gather the most important information on the history and current status of traditional values on the Presidential Library website.

The St. Petersburg Scientific and Technical Forum VOENTECH is an event dedicated to the development of defense technologies, weapons systems, and the training of personnel. The heads of leading industrial companies and universities in Russia have the opportunity to discuss ways to improve the quality of engineering education, the needs of the military-industrial sector, and strategic research directions with representatives of government agencies, ministries, and potential clients.
