Presidential Library shares work experience with colleagues in Middle Urals

The annual open regional meeting titled The Presidential Library in the Middle Urals: Historical Context and Personal Stories will be held in Yekaterinburg on March 12 and 13, 2025. This event is organized by the Sverdlovsk Regional Center of the Presidential Library, based at the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library.

Specialists from regional centers and electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library in the Ural Federal District will gather online to participate in this regional meeting.

Yuri Nosov, Director General of the Presidential Library; Pavel Krekov, Deputy Governor of Sverdlovsk Region; Anna Gurari, Chairperson of the Yekaterinburg City Duma; and Konstantin Shevchenko, Deputy Mayor of Yekaterinburg will greet the participants.

The meeting discussed issues related to the cultural and educational activities of the electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library in the Sverdlovsk region, as well as the promotion of its information resources.

Yuri Nosov, the Director General of the Presidential Library, pointed out that Sverdlovsk Region had made significant progress in establishing new electronic reading rooms in general education institutions in Yekaterinburg. According to him, the capital of the Urals and the region as a whole lead in this regard.

During the plenary session, Sergey Neganov, the Head of the Department for Coordinating the Regional Network of the Presidential Library, discussed the priorities for developing the regional library system.

Oleg Shor, the director of the branch of the Presidential Library in Tyumen region, gave a speech about the interdepartmental cooperation between the Presidential Library and the Ministry of Education of Russia.

Alexey Voronovich, Director of the Department for Scientific and Expert work, spoke to colleagues about the educational potential of the library's information resources, using the example of a collection of digitized documents on film and photographic materials from the Second World War. Maxim Terebilov, Acting Head of the Department of Educational Programs at the Presidential Library, presented a report on Formation of Traditional Spiritual and Moral Values through Projects and Activities of the Presidential Library.

On March 13th, a roundtable will be held to summarize the results of the educational project "History through the Presidential Library", which aims to provide historical knowledge to the younger generation.

For the Presidential Library, cooperation with the regions is a key area of activity. The digital collection of the library includes more than a million items, including electronic copies of printed and archival materials, audio and video recordings, abstracts of dissertations, and other documents that reflect the centuries-long history of Russian statehood, legal theory and practice, as well as the Russian language as the official language of Russia.

A special place in the collection of the Presidential Library is occupied by electronic collections on regional studies, which contain materials on the subjects of the Russian Federation. One such collection is Sverdlovsk Region: Pages of History, which is presented on the portal of the Presidential Library and includes statistical materials, research, essays, and photographs from the 19th and early 20th centuries that cover various aspects of regional development.
