Results of volunteer project "History with Presidential Library" summed up in Yekaterinburg

On March 13, 2025, a roundtable dedicated to the educational volunteer project History with Presidential Library was held in Yekaterinburg, at the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library. This event took place as part of an annual open regional meeting titled Presidential Library in the Middle Urals: Historical Context and Personal Stories.

Yuri Nosov, General Director of the Presidential Library, noted that it is in Yekaterinburg where, through interdepartmental collaboration, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 314 of May 8, 2024, "On Approval of the Fundamentals of State Policy in the Field of Historical Education," a unique volunteer project called History with the Presidential Library has been implemented.

Yuri Nosov thanked all the partners involved in this significant project for their support and expressed the hope that the successful experience would be extended to other regions of the Russian Federation and federal districts.

The participants of the round table summed up the results of the educational project, the purpose of which was the historical education of the younger generation. Yekaterinburg high school students were introduced to the educational potential of information resources and educational projects of the Presidential Library.

The project was implemented between October 2024 and March 2025, involving volunteer students from the Ural State Pedagogical University.

In the autumn of 2024, the branch of the Presidential Library in Tyumen region initiated the training of these students, organized by specialists from the regional center of the Presidential Library based at the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library. More than 70 students from the Ural Pedagogical participated in the project, conducting lessons for students in grades 8-11 in all schools of Yekaterinburg. Over two thousand classes were involved in the project and more than fifty thousand schoolchildren gained new knowledge as a result.

The library's collection includes a wide variety of materials, such as books, newspapers, magazines, newsreels, photographs, films, and archival documents. These materials cover the history of Russian statehood and can be used for educational purposes, including the preparation of reports, essays, term papers, and theses.

The Russian Language collection on the library's portal includes rare textbooks on Russian language from the 17th to early 20th centuries in the Educational Literature on the Russian Language section. The Educational Editions on History collection includes pre-revolutionary textbooks, publications of the 20th century, anthologies, visual aids, atlases, and books for children.

A separate collection contains educational publications on geography that allow us to see the development of our country's territories. The Presidential Library has links to information resources in new history textbooks for high school students, with more than 15% of the links leading to the Presidential Library's collections, which contain over 15,000 documents and materials on Russian history.

Recordings of speeches by famous scientists, public figures, and stage performers are available in the Video Lectures section of the library's portal. There are also a variety of multimedia lessons, virtual tours, exhibitions, and educational videos available. Intellectual and creative competitions are regularly held for children, and Russian high school students can take part in the interactive Russia in the Electronic World olympiad on history, social studies, the Russian language, and Russian as a second language.

The participants of the round table discussed the possibilities of continuing and developing the "History of the Presidential Library" project and its implementation in different regions of Russia, where pedagogical universities subordinate to the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation operate.
