Press conference dedicated to creation of National Consortium for Historical Enlightenment
On March 21, 2025, a press conference dedicated to the establishment of the National Consortium for Historical Education was held in Moscow at the International Multimedia Press Center of the Rossiya Segodnya Media Group. The conference was attended by several prominent figures, including:
- Yuri Nosov, General Director of the Presidential Library (online)
- Denis Tsypkin, General Director of the Russian National Library
- Mikhail Afanasyev, Director of the State Public Historical Library of Russia
- Sergey Kochetkov, First Deputy Editor-in-Chief at the International Media Group Rossiya Segodnya
- Stanislav Golubtsov, Deputy General Director for Library Work at the Russian National Library
The event was moderated by Natalia Tyurina, Head of Education and Social Projects at the Rossiya Segodnya International Media Group.
The press conference focused on addressing issues related to the creation of a consortium involving leading Russian libraries and the International Media Group, Rossiya Segodnya. The establishment of the National Consortium for Historical Education was driven by the need to unite efforts in implementing Decree No. 314, issued by the President of Russia on May 8, 2024, which outlines the fundamentals of the state policy in the field of historical education. This initiative is also aligned with the Strategy for State Cultural Policy until 2030.
Last December, a memorandum of intent was signed at the Presidential Library, marking the beginning of the process to create the National Consortium.
The Consortium will contribute to expanding library cooperation. Its main goals include the creation of a unified database of reliable historical sources based on the technologies of the Presidential Library, coordination of library activities with government agencies and other organizations for historical education, and the implementation of joint educational projects.
The National Consortium for Historical Education's governing bodies will be located at the State Public Historical Library in Moscow. The Russian National Library will lead the consortium in providing scientific and methodological support to facilitate the access to historical documents for educational purposes.
