New scientific collection of Presidential Library dedicated to "Stalin's Ten Blows"

26 March 2025

In March 2025, a special scientific collection was released as part of the Electronic Archive series to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from Nazi siege and the expulsion of German troops from the Soviet Union in 1944. These events were significant turning points in World War II and brought the much-awaited victory closer. The collection is available online at the Presidential Library's portal (www.prlib.ru/en), and its materials have been indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).

The collection combines the research presented at the All-Russian Scientific Conference "1944: 'Ten Stalin's Blows'", which took place on October 17th, 2024, with the participation of the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Military Historical Society, and the History of Fatherland Collection. The articles and documents highlight key aspects of the 1944 military operations, including the role of logistics, medicine, and ideological work.

Among the topics covered in the book:
- Bobruisk and Siauliai Offensive Operations (V. V. Abaturov and V. V. Izonov)
- Liberation of Crimea and Norway (D. A. Belov and A. S. Iryutin)
- The Contribution of Regions to the Victory, from the Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic to the Far East (A. K. Gagieva and B. P. Dementiev)
- Exploits of Doctors and the Peculiarities of Field Water Supply (N. Y. Brinyuk and V. I. Kirilenko)
- Memory of War: Museum Projects and Memorial Collections (O. V. Kvitko and V. M. Krylov)

The publication is intended for historians, archivists, educators, students, and anyone interested in Russia's military history. It combines a thorough analysis of documents with unique materials from the Presidential Library's collections, including previously unpublished evidence from the era.

Preserving the memory of events from 1944 is not just a tribute to heroes, but also a lesson for future generations. This new collection allows us to view history through the lens of specific operations, individual destinies, and the efforts of the home front, as noted by the organizers of this project.

The digital version of the book offers free access to information for researchers worldwide. This is particularly significant in the year marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, during which issues of historical accuracy gain renewed importance.

The Presidential Library has been publishing the Electronic Archive series of scientific collections since 2017, which are available on its online portal.

The library continues to promote historical heritage by combining scientific research, education, and modern technologies.
