
Meeting of Council of St. Petersburg Regional Branch of Russian Military Historical Society
On March 25, 2025, a meeting of the Council of the St. Petersburg Regional Branch of the All-Russian Public and State Organization Russian Military Historical Society (RMHS) was held at the Mariinsky Palace.
The meeting of the Council of the St. Petersburg Regional branch of the RMHS was attended by:
Oleg Alexandrovich Chernyaga – Chairman of the Council of the St. Petersburg Regional Branch of the RMHS, General Director of the St. Petersburg Museum and Exhibition Center;
Nosov Yuri Stanislavovich – Chairman of the St. Petersburg Regional Branch of the RMHS, General Director of the Presidential Library;
Malkevich Alexander Alexandrovich – member of the Council of the St. Petersburg Regional branch of the RMHS, Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg;
Chebykin Konstantin Alexandrovich is a member of the Council of the St. Petersburg Regional branch of the RMHS, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg.
During the meeting of the council of the St. Petersburg regional branch of the Russian Military-Historical Society (RMHS), the results of its activities in the first quarter of 2023 were summarized. Educational events and socially significant projects implemented during this period were also presented.
Special attention was paid to the new digital collection Russian Military Historical Society published on the Presidential Library's portal. This collection includes both modern official documents and materials on the history of the society in the early 20th century.
In the first quarter of 2023, representatives from the St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Military-Historical Society (RMHS) actively participated in various events commemorating the 81st anniversary of the full liberation of Leningrad from Nazi siege. On January 27th, they visited the To the Memory of Peaceful Citizens of the Soviet Union Who Died During the Great Patriotic War memorial complex in the Gatchina district of Leningrad Region. The initiative for creating this memorial complex was taken by the RMHS and Russian Historical Society.
On February 21, 2025, a one-man show titled No Conversation was held at the Presidential Library in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the ongoing special military operation. The event was organized by the Charity Theater Studio Glagol, the Presidential Library, and the Moscow and St. Petersburg branches of the Russian Military Historical Society (RMHS).
The one-man performance was part of an educational and patriotic initiative called Let's Bring Back the Name of Hero Writer and Siege Runner Matvey Tevelev From Oblivion, which was based on his personal stories about the war.
In the first quarter of 2025, the St. Petersburg Regional Branch of the Russian Military Historical Society (RMHS) co-organized the Heroes of Our Time exhibition, which opened on February 24th, 2025 at the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg. The exhibition was dedicated to celebrating the anniversary of Defender of the Fatherland Day, and it recognizes the heroic deeds of those who participated in a recent military operation.
The exhibition features paintings and graphic works by the renowned St. Petersburg artist, Anatoly Annenkov. These works depict portraits of soldiers who served in the Special Forces and civilians who were rescued by them during the operation. Currently, visitors can access the exhibition exhibits through the Presidential Library's online portal from anywhere in the world.
Plans for the second quarter of 2025 were also discussed at a meeting of the St. Petersburg Regional Branch Council of the Russian Military Historical Society (RMHS). One of the major events is the opening of an exhibition titled Memory of Generations: The Great Victory!, which will mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Organized by the Russian Military Historical Society in collaboration with the Presidential Library, the exhibition will open on May 27th, a significant day in St. Petersburg's history, commemorating the founding of the city and the birthdays of both the All-Russia Library Day and the Presidential Library itself.
Also at the meeting, new members joined the Russian Military Historical Society's St. Petersburg branch. Congratulations!
