Presidential Library took part in opening of documentary photo exhibition "Liberation. The Path to Victory. Rebuilding Europe."

31 March 2025

On 31 March 2025, the Presidential Library took part in the grand opening of the documentary photo exhibition Liberation. The Path to Victory. Restoration of Europe. The event took place at the North-West Institute of Management, a branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA St. Petersburg).

In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, RANEPA St. Petersburg is an official partner of the project of the Rossiya Segodnya international media group Liberation. The Path to Victory.

The project is supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Soviet Union and Europe from the enemy in 1944 and 1945, as well as to the heroic work of the home front during the Great Patriotic War.

On behalf of the Director General of the Presidential Library Yuri Nosov the greeting was read out by Igor Solonko, Director of the Department for Scientific and Educational Work. The greeting notes: The unique footage of the exhibition is not just a chronicle of the events of 1944-1945. They are living testimonies of the feat of millions of people: soldiers who liberated their native land and Europe from Nazism, home front workers and all those who, having gone through the hardships of war, kept faith in peace and humanity.

The exhibition features photographs created by war correspondents of Sovinformburo, the predecessor of the Rossiya Segodnya media group. The pictures depict the stories of people who, having passed the hardest test of war, worked together for the benefit of their countries and the future of the world.

At the opening of the exhibition Liberation. The Path to Victory. Restoration of Europe was attended by representatives of international organisations, authorities, cultural and educational institutions, public associations and veterans of the special military operation.

Interaction between the Presidential Library and RANEPA St. Petersburg is actively developing. In 2023 within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum an agreement on cooperation between the organisations was signed. Among the implemented joint projects it is worth noting the work on digitisation of materials of the university's scientific library, thanks to which the Presidential Library's electronic collection was enriched with unique publications from the Great Patriotic War period. Students and teachers of the university regularly take part in the Presidential Library events: Knowledge Forum, student paper contest, video lectures, etc.
