May 27, 2011 the Head of the Research Cosmonaut Training Centre Sergey Krikalev visited the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library. During the visit, he was offered a tour of the library and met with Director General of the Presidential Library.

Pilot-Cosmonaut Sergey Krikalev is one of four people awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Russia. He is the only one of earthlings who, in total, spent two and a half years on the orbit, and 41 hours 26 minutes in the open space. Krikalev has participated in six space missions, including the first joint American-Russian flight on board of a shuttle. He was appointed a member of the first crew of the International Space Station.

The guest visited the conference hall, the multimedia hall and the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library. Sergey Krikalev praised the level of technical support of the library. He noted that the Presidential Library solves an important problem promoting respect for the country – not only it preserves the national heritage, but also provides public access to it.

The astronaut was particularly interested by the "Open Space" exhibition, organized by the Presidential Library in joint effort with the Northwest organization of Cosmonautics Federation of Russia. The photographs made by Krikalev himself were displayed in a separate section.

After the tour Sergey Krikalev met with Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Verschinin. The result of the conversation was the agreement on cooperation in preparing and launching of joint projects.

According to the tradition at the end of the meeting the guest was presented with a library card of the Presidential Library.
