The Presidential Library broadcasts live

The Presidential Library, in addition to traditional broadcasts of its events and the cinema club, is preparing to launch a permanent display at the web site of documentary and educational films.

As part of the broadcasting project, in the new academic year, the best pictures taken over the past decade at the studio “Lennauchfilm” as well as the Saint-Petersburg Documentary Film Studio will be broadcasted at the web site of the Presidential Library. The program schedule is preparing, the program provides a weekly broadcast with repeats for viewers of all time zones of Russia.

The versatile pictures of Leningrad, Petersburg directors, reflecting the history of the country, the life of people and their views, experiences will be shown, as well as a demonstration of video lectures and video tours, and other multimedia materials created by the Presidential Library will be held.

Among planned for the screening are the cinematic rarity, for example, one of the first films of A. Sokurov “Maria”, a work of Peter Soldatenkov about the Alexander Nevsky Lavra with comments not only by priests, but also by Yuri Shevchuk, other unexpected characters. Through documentary films it will be revealed images of prominent personalities of culture and the arts – M. P. Mussorgsky, D. A. Granin and others, the theme of citizenship in literary creation of O. F. Bergolts by the example of her hard fate. There will also be broadcasted films which are available in the holdings of the Presidential Library, for example, “German Princess – Russian fates” - about Catherine the Great and the stories of other German princesses who have associated their the fates with Russia.   

Weekly during 2013-2014 school years will be broadcast a newsreel “I want to know everything” from the holdings of the “Center of National Film”, in each issue of which the authors in a simple and accessible way tell children about the structure of the world, the outstanding achievements of technical progress and the natural phenomena. 

In addition, the web site of the Presidential Library will start the screening of the newsreel of Gosfilmofond. The project is aimed at the reflection of memorable dates in Russian history and issues related to the Russian statehood.

The broadcast at the web site of the Presidential Library will be another step towards providing maximum access to information, education, and extension of non-fiction work that is held by the first national digital library of the country.

It is planned that the screening of documentaries and popular science films, lectures will also increase the interactive discussion of materials in the pages of the Presidential Library in social networks.
