
The Presidential Library to present a new collection on Russian literature and history
As part of the Year of Literature announced in Russia the Presidential Library has developed a new digital collection of materials, "Fact and image of Russian history in the works of Russian writers." The collection will be available on the website of the first national electronic library of Russia February 2, 2015.
The collection includes two sections: "History" and "Literature". The first part introduces to the reader the works of prominent Russian historians. The collection will feature the famous multi-volume work by N. M. Karamzin "History of the Russian state," the studies of S. M. Soloviev, "History of Russia from ancient times," V. O. Klyuchevsky’s "The course of Russian history" and others.
"Literature" section will include the works of Russian writers, their beliefs, attitudes and interpretations of historical events. The section focuses in particular on literary works about the reign of Ivan the Terrible, the establishment and flourishing of the Russian Empire in the 18th – early 20th century, the War of 1812, the socio-economic and socio-political development of Russia in the 19th - early 20th century. In addition, there will be books about the lives and works of Russian writers, first publications of their works. The digital collection contains materials on Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov and others.
By now the collection numbers more than 200 units. It is planned that the collection will be constantly updated. Regular updating of digital content of the Presidential Library allows readers to elevate their minds. In addition, works of art of classics are useful spiritual fare for each person. In this field the Presidential Library plays an important role - it is a powerful informational and educational center, which makes available unique materials that reflect the centuries-old history of Russian statehood.
The collection is timed to the multimedia literature lessons for students to be launched by the Presidential Library February 2, 2015.
