18 April 2017

Shortly before the beginning of the period of admission to collages, the Presidential Library participated in an interregional conference on engineering education in Russia. The Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library and the Novosibirsk State Technical University jointly with the Presidential Library organized the event. Held today, April 18, 2017, “The traditions and innovations in technical education in Russia” interregional conference has become an important tool for young people who hope to make the choice of their future profession consciously.

The leading technical universities of our country shared their experience in the training of engineering personnel in video conferencing mode. The speakers told about new approaches in the process of education, educational programs and further prospects of the development of engineering education.

As the chief research officer of the Presidential Library Pavel Fedorov mentioned, technical education in Russia has a great and glorious history. In his opinion, humanitarian training, as well as patriotic education for the benefit of our country, should be an important part in the process of preparing an engineer.

Currently, the Presidential Library has a unique electronic resource that is actively integrated into higher education institutions. The Presidential Library stock currently numbers more than 500 thousand units. These are the digital copies of published editions and archival documents, audio and video recordings, abstracts of dissertations and other materials reflecting the centuries-old history of Russian statehood, theory and practice of law, and the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation. “We must discuss with technical universities how we are able to use this valuable material for the process of training and education of future Russian engineers,” - Pavel Fedorov summed up.

Representatives of many institutions of higher education of Moscow, Tomsk, Tyumen, Novosibirsk and St. Petersburg joined the discussion in video-conferencing mode.
