The Presidential Library has become a platform for the meeting of the editorial board of the historical magazine “Rodina” with readers
On May 15, 2017, the Presidential Library hosted a presentation of the new issue of the monthly historical popular science magazine “Rodina”. The event was organized as part of a cooperation agreement between the library and the editorial staff of “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”. The videoconference was also attended by specialists and guests of libraries from Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg and Perm.
According to the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Rodina” and the deputy editor-in-chief of the “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”, Igor Kots, the main topic of the May issue was the military correspondents of the XIX-XXI centuries. Also from the release of materials the reader will learn about what the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna wrote about on the eve of her death, how many days Lenin spent in Russia between revolutions, how Russian beauties that shone at the first beauty contests at the beginning of the last century do live now, and much more.
"The "Rodina" Magazine" is the latest news about the past", - said the historian and writer Semen Ekshtut, the editor of the publication, PhD in Philosophy, head of the Center for the History of Arts and Culture of the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He also stressed that the task of the "Rodina" is to show the story through the fate of an individual.
Within the framework of the presentation, unique materials from the archive of the well-known Leningrad journalist Matvei Frolov were presented: entries, letters, diaries and other documents that are being digitized now and will soon be replenished with the Presidential Library.
According to Igor Kotz, the traditional monthly event held within the framework of the cooperation between the Presidential Library and the “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” was beyond the scope of the usual presentation: "Today this is primarily a platform for communication between the editorial board and the reader, where we discuss published materials and topical issues, we find new heroes - this is the main meaning of our meetings".
The Presidential Library and the newspaper “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” are actively cooperating. At the end of 2016, an agreement on cooperation was signed, within which a multimedia exhibition "The Year of the "Rodina" Magazine" 2016: Historical Events in People's Stories" took place in the building on the Senate Square, 3. In February 2017, the Presidential Library hosted a video lecture dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the 1917 revolution in Russia, and the first presentation of the current issue at that time - the February issue of the "Rodina" Magazine. Digitized copies of the popular science edition will eventually be included in the Presidential Library electronic fund.
