The Presidential Library develops cooperation with the Far East

Within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum, which takes place on September 6-7 in Vladivostok, the Presidential Library realizes some new projects focused on development the cooperation with the Far East.

An interaction with cultural and educational organizations in Primorsky Krai, where the remote electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library have already been launched, will be further expanded. So, an access to an electronic resources in the Pacific Higher Naval School named after S. O. Makarov will increase from 2 to 10 workspaces, in October faculty staff of this military educational institution will conduct special based on the library resources seminar on the history of the Russian statehood, army and navy, the information of which can be used in future work with cadets. Public video lecturing dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the school is also in plans.

A venue for the Eastern Economic Forum is the Far Eastern Federal University, and in the course of a detailed study of an interaction of this leading in Russia university with the library on the first quarter of 2018 is already preplanned to increase the volume of stored here materials, which are not yet converted into electronic form, for the collections of the Presidential Library. The electronic copies of already scanned documents will be handed to the library as well.

The first institution of Primorsky Krai, with which in 2012 the Presidential Library concluded a cooperation agreement, is the Primorsky Regional Public Library named after A. M. Gorky. The prospects for working with the resources of the Presidential Library in the electronic reading room were determined in course of meeting with the director of this oldest in the Far East institution of culture Alexander Briukhanov. Already from this autumn it will work as a resource center for journalists, local historians, and public figures. The center will offer information about the history of Primorsky Krai, an impact of Russia in the development of this territory. In addition, the Presidential Library sends the movies “The Russian Fleet off the coast of America” (1st and 2nd parts) for demonstration in the “Zerkalo” cinema club of the regional library.

Along with this, the development of cooperation with the Vladivostok Presidential Cadet School, which participates in the educational projects of the Presidential Library, is actively continuing.

A new center of access to the resources will also be launched: following the results of the forum, the connection of Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service with more than 550 thousand documents of the Presidential Library with will take place on September 8 at 12 pm. Within the framework of the agreement the university students, graduate students and faculty will participate in the learning of the electronic resources of the Presidential Library. The University is even more unique since its structure also includes kindergartens and schools, thus, a habit of working with reliable sources of information online in cooperation with the Presidential Library will be adopted from the very youngest age.
