The Presidential Library releases a cycle of webinars on the occasion of the centenary of October Revolution 1917

The Presidential Library prepared a series of webinars on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution of 1917, introducing the listeners to the numerous materials from the library electronic stock, which reveal the events of the turning point for the country year.

The cycle of online seminars focused on “October 1917: a look through the century” will open on October 17, 2017 at 10 am MSK with it first part “Before the October”. The first webinar was dedicated to the events that began in Petrograd with the July uprisings.

On October 24, 2017, at 10 am MSK there will be the cycle’s second part named “The takeover,” straight focused on the course of the revolution itself. The event participants will see the documents shedding light on party’s propaganda work among the workers, organization and realization of a very plan of the uprising. The documents of the cases oа еру Council of People's Commissars, minutes of the session of Military Revolutionary Committee helped to reconstruct the events.

Considerable attention will be paid to the direct participants of the revolution from every part of the country and the books describing the solemn anniversary’s celebrations starting from 1918. Owing to the materials containing an analysis of the significance of the revolution for the entire world and the thoughts of politicians of different countries about these events, the participants of the seminar will be able to feel the political atmosphere of time.

“October 1917: a look through the century” became a logical continuation of the first in this year’s series of online seminars of the Presidential Library thematic webinar with focus on the February Revolution of 1917. The participants were introduced to various sources related to the overthrow of the tsarist regime and the breakthrough in political course of the country — the archival documents (telegrams, letters from members of the Provisional Government), historical essays, memories of participants (P. N. Milyukov, M. V. Rodzyanko), documentary photographs.

A release of the materials of the Presidential Library stock is one of the key priorities of the institution. A practice of conducting the outreach, awareness raising and methodical webinars was introduced in 2015. These events help to navigate through the electronic fund of the Presidential Library, which currently contains more than 550 thousand entries. To date, there are some online seminars for new partners, focused on introduction them to the resource, as well as professional lectures for specialists of already operating remote access centers.

To participate in online seminars is possible via video conferencing system or WebEx, or to watch privet viewable online broadcast.
