Videoconference "Cities of military glory: from Kalach-on-Don to full Victory"

The M. Gorky Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library held an interregional scientific and practical videoconference "Cities of Military Glory: from Kalach-on-Don to Full Victory", dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the defeat of the fascist troops at Stalingrad.

The main idea of ​​the videoconference was the actualization of the historical memory of modern generations of Russian citizens and the upbringing of the spirit of service to the Fatherland on the examples of the valor, courage and selflessness of the Generation of Winners.

The welcoming speech to the participants of the videoconference was delivered by: Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Culture of the Administration of the Volgograd Region E. V. Yevdokimova, Acting Director (external relations of the Presidential Library) P. A. Kiselev, Director of the M. Gorky Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library N. V. Shashko.

In their speeches in the video-conferencing mode provided by the Presidential Library, the speakers presented the heroic role of the Soviet people in protecting the Fatherland during the Great Patriotic War, in particular in the territories that were awarded the honorary title of the Russian Federation "City of Military Glory". Scientists of Volgograd, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Tver told about the courage, fortitude and mass heroism shown by the defenders of the city in the struggle for freedom and independence of the Fatherland.

V. V. Bulatov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of Volgograd State University, told the audience about the fighting and heroism of the young patriots who gave their lives for the freedom of their native land on the territory of the Kalach hamlet (now the city of military glory - the city of Kalach-on-Don). which was of exceptional importance due to its geographical location. It was here that the enemy forces were concentrated to strike at Stalingrad.

M. D. Khetchikov, Doctor of Military Sciences, Professor, Chairman of the Tver Regional Scientific Military Historical Center, told about the military operations of the troops of the Kalininsky Front, about the city-front of Tver. The feat of the defenders of Veliky Novgorod was presented by S. F. Vitushkin, the first deputy chairman of the Novgorod Regional Council of Veterans, the chief editor of the Novgorod Regional Memory Book.

V. V. Korovin, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of South-Western State University (Kursk) in his speech paid attention to the story about the sabotage activity of partisan detachments in the occupied territories of the Central Chernozem region, which was aimed primarily at disorganizing the enemy's rear, causing maximum damage to his manpower and technique.

The report of S. Y. Kurnosov, the head of the Museum Department (Funds) of the Central Naval Museum (St. Petersburg) was devoted to the Red Banner Baltic Fleet and the Ladoga Military Flotilla in the defense of Leningrad and Kronstadt in 1941-1945.

The heroism of the Soviet people, the fighting in the framework of counter-offensives to Voronezh and Smolensk, were illustrated by fragments of documentaries "The Battle for Voronezh" and "Smolensk. City-Hero" from the funds of the Presidential Library.

On this day in the V. Y. Shishkov Altai Regional Universal Scientific Library, the N. N. Aseev Kursk Regional Scientific Library, the Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library, the Omsk Regional Center for Access to Information Resources of the Presidential Library, the M. Gorky Tver Regional Scientific Library for participation in the video-conferencing mode was attended by cadets of military schools, students, high school students, employees of cultural and educational institutions.

The Presidential Library portal presents the broadcast which was watched by target audiences at the “Cherevkovskaya Secondary School” and MUK “Municipal Library System of the Kotlas Municipal District of the Arkhangelsk region”, Information Library Department of the Bolshoielsk Municipal District Bolshoielskiy Center for Information, Cultural and Museum-Exhibition Activity and MUK " Centralized Library System of Yaroslavl, the Yaroslavl region, the Pavlograd Central District Hospital of the Pavlograd Inter-settlement Centralized Library System of the Pavlograd area, MUK "Inter-settlement district library" of the Omsk region.

In the Volgograd region, high school students, students, representatives of educational and cultural institutions gathered in the Kaluga Municipal Cultural Center "Kalachev Inter-settlement Central Library", MKUK "Library and Information Center" in Frolovo, MBUK CBS Mikhailovka, MBOU "Olkhovskaya SS", MUK "Inter-settlement Library System» of the Olkhovsky district.

Thanks to a direct broadcast on the portal of the Presidential Library, 24 regions of the Russian Federation were able to participate in the videoconference.

Following the results of the conference, it is planned to prepare a collection of materials, reports for which were provided by correspondence participants from Kalach-on-Don, Volgograd, Gatchina, Donetsk, Murmansk region, Pskov and others.

On this day in the M. Gorky Volgograd Regional Universal Scientific Library was opened an exhibition of documents, photographs and publications of the "City of Military Glory", which will be exhibited and updated until February 2, 2018 - the 75th anniversary of the start of the defeat of the fascist troops at Stalingrad.

The cooperation of the Presidential Library with the Volgograd Region has been developing since 2010.
