The Presidential Library evolves regional network

In the course of the VI St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, representatives of government authorities and cultural institutions of Russian regions have appeared in the Presidential Library with their working visits.

Among the guests of the library were Minister of Culture of the Chechen Republic Khoj-Baudi Daaev; Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Kaliningrad Oblast Andrey Ermak; Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Government of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Head of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports Andrei Bolenkov; Minister of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Oblast Svetlana Uchaykina; director of the Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after V. G. Belinsky Olga Oparina; vice-governor of the Vologda Oblast Oleg Vasilyev; the general director of the Kirillo-Belozersky State National Park and Museum Mikhail Sharomazov; Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Penza Oblast Tatiana Kurdova; director of the Penza Regional Library named after M. Y. Lermontov Marina Osipova; Minister of Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Sergey Gorin; Austrian historian, Doctor of Science Elizabeth Haresh.

Along the working trips to the Presidential Library, the guests visited historical interiors and current facilities, which were built specifically for public and state events, including the higher-level ones. In the electronic reading room they were granted the library cards assuring readership of the Presidential Library with an access to the resources in its any remote centers around the world. Currently, the library fund numbers about 580 thousand electronic copies of unique materials and archival documents.

The General Director of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin and all the guests of the institution had working negotiations, during which was articulated that the regional centers need to work on establishment and further development of local remote electronic reading rooms. The ways of active participation of regions in the “Russia in the Electronic World” Olympiad for school students, public video lecturing, scientific-educational projects, and outreach and awareness raising large-scale campaigns of the Presidential Library were also considered.

Within the framework of the VI St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, an agreement on cooperation between the Sverdlovsk Oblast and the Presidential Library was signed. The key direction of work according to the signed document will be the implementation of educational, cultural and outreach activities for the population of the Sverdlovsk Oblast, primarily for its young generation, on the history of Russia, the theory and practice of Russian statehood, and the Russian language as a state language of the Russian Federation. One point of the agreement directly concerns a creation of the first regional access center for the region residents to the information resources of the Presidential Library. Currently, remote electronic reading rooms are successfully functioning on the basis of the Presidential Center of B. N. Yeltsin, the Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after V. Belinsky, the Sverdlovsk Regional Library for Children and Youth, the Innovative Cultural Center of Sverdlovsk Region and other cultural institutions.

The Presidential Library actively develops a regional network of remote electronic reading rooms. So far, more than 430 remote access centers have already been opened in all 85 regions of the country.
