Young people of Bulgaria showed their knowledge on the Russian-Turkish liberation war

November 27, 2017, the Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia hosted the final round of the quiz, dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the beginning of the Russo-Turkish Liberation War, entitled: "What do I know about the Russian-Turkish liberation war of 1877-1878?" Freedom of Bulgaria and Russia".

According to the results of the preliminary round, in which more than 200 responses from students from different cities and regions of Bulgaria were considered, 34 participants with the highest score were selected to participate in the finals. The answers to the questions of the correspondence round were evaluated by the jury under the chairmanship of Professor Iskra Baeva.

Counselor of the Russian Embassy in the Republic of Bulgaria Alexei Novosyolov addressed the participants, jury, teachers and guests of the final round, Kirill Voronkov, head of the Russian Language and Education Department, greeted the participants of the contest on behalf of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Bulgaria.

Participants of the final round presented their presentations and essays on one of the topics: "Freedom of Bulgaria and Russia", "The role of Russia in the liberation of Bulgaria", "Preservation of memory of the heroes and figures of Russia - participants in the liberation of Bulgaria".

The jury appreciated the work of the finalists. All the participants of the final round received gifts from the organizers, and the teachers who prepared the finalists, - diplomas. Given the large number of decent work, it was decided to award two prizes in each category with the award of diplomas, gifts and medals.

The Presidential Library portal features electronic collection "Russia-Bulgaria: from the history of relationships". The presented collection of official documents, archival cases, studies and other materials highlights the socio-political and cultural development of Bulgaria and certain issues of relations between Bulgaria and Russia in different historical periods.
