The Presidential Library the Chelyabinsk Oblast signed a cooperation agreement

An official ceremony of signing an agreement on cooperation between the Presidential Library and the Chelyabinsk Oblast took place on December 22, 2017. The General Director of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin and the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Oblast Boris Dubrovsky signed the document. The key point of the agreement was a work on creating of sole information environment in the field of history, theory and practice of Russian statehood and the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation.

“This agreement is opening broad opportunities for residents of the Chelyabinsk Oblast, — Boris Dubrovsky said. — I am absolutely sure that in the future we will make a great progress in the development of the shared information space.”

Alexander Vershinin, in his turn, pointed out that an active work with the region has been led since 2013. More than 10 remote electronic reading rooms in the region were opened during this time. Signed agreement will allow developing the access centers to the resources of the Presidential Library on the territory of the region.

Also within the framework of the negotiations, a possibility of creating a regional center of access to the Presidential Library resources on the basis of the Chelyabinsk Regional Universal Scientific Library was discussed. This decision will contribute into the development of joint educational, cultural, outreach and awareness raising projects, exchange with the experiences, and mutual replenishment of library stocks.

Opened in 2009 in St. Petersburg Presidential Library is today the largest national information, innovation and cultural center, a nationwide repository of materials on the history of Russia. Its fund has about 600 thousand entries, including materials on the history of the Chelyabinsk Oblast, amassed within the Chelyabinsk Oblast: pages of history collection. This collection includes digital copies of the research works, the essays, archival documents, statistical materials, photographs and sound recordings covering geographic, demographic, socio-economic, socio-political and other aspects of the history of the Chelyabinsk Oblast, especially on the first third of the XX century.
