The Presidential Library will continue active cooperation with Balaklava

31 January 2018

Today, January 31, 2018 the Presidential Library was visited by the delegation of Balaklava, the municipal city of Sevastopol, with a working visit.

As a result of the talks, plans for cooperation for the near future were outlined. The prospects for cooperation in scientific and educational activities and exhibition projects were discussed in detail. Also, the conversation was about the transfer of materials, digital copies of which will enrich the Presidential Library fund. "We hope that the Presidential Library, using its vast experience and powerful information and technological resources, will become a reliable partner of Balaklava", - the delegation’s representatives noted.

The guests were given a tour through the Presidential Library. They learned about the history and architectural features of the building, the main directions of the library's activities and its wide possibilities. All representatives of the delegation became today honorable readers of the Presidential Library, having received readers' tickets.

In the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library, the delegation of Balaklava thoroughly got familiar with archival affairs, books and graphic materials concerning Balaklava. They were especially interested in the archival document of 1915 "On the project of building railways in the Crimea: Sevastopol - Balaklava - Yalta - Feodosia and Yevpatoria - Simferopol - Alushta". The guests highly appreciated the scale of the Presidential Library's fund, as well as the fact that thanks to the widest possible access to its unique resources, anyone can use reliably accurate information.

In addition, the members of the delegation noted the importance of the activities of the Presidential Library in the field of information and education: the constant work with educational institutions is carried out, special projects are being created for schoolchildren and students.

Cooperation between the Presidential Library and the Balaklava institutions is developing confidently. Currently, seven centers for remote access to the Presidential Library resources are open in Sevastopol and Crimea. Last year, the first electronic national library in Russia, together with the Balaklava Palace of Culture, implemented several joint projects. Now the list of prospective partners is planned to be expanded.
