The Presidential Library will take an active part in the revival of the historical heritage of the industrial sector

The Presidential Library is ready to take an active part in reviving the historical heritage of the industrial sector. This was announced today, February 15, 2018, within the framework of the working visit of representatives of the Russian Engineering Union. Negotiations were also held on the prospects for the development of cooperation between the Presidential Library and the Russian Engineering Union, including the implementation of joint projects.

On this day, the guests were given a tour through the Presidential Library, during which they got familiar with the history and architectural features of the building, learned about the main activities of the library, its information and technological resources.

Representatives of the Russian Engineering Union were particularly interested in the scanning department, where they were told in detail about all the stages of the technological process of digitization and demonstrated unique scanners, which have no analogues in Russia.

In the electronic reading room the guests were introduced to the information resources of the Presidential Library. Particular attention was paid to the topic of domestic engineering, which is represented in the library's collections with a large number of visual materials, rare books and archival cases. In addition, the digital collection "The Russian State and the Economy", which materials reflect the development of domestic and foreign trade, the specific features of Russia's agrarian and industrial development, the activities of state bodies in the sphere of economy and finance, changes in the economic life of the Soviet time, including during the Great Patriotic War, as well as the current state of the Russian economy, is available on the Presidential Library portal.

As part of the tour, the guests also visited the exhibits of the thematic exhibitions, which are now in the Presidential Library. Among them: "”Protecting nature means protecting the Motherland": to the Year of Ecology in Russia" and "”The Saving Sword of the Revolution": The chekist in life, cinema and literature".

The unique copy of the inaugural copy of the Constitution, presented by the President of Russia to the library on the day of its opening - on May 27, 2009 and stored in the Constitution Hall, aroused great interest among the representatives of the Russian Engineering Union

The cooperation between the Presidential Library and the Russian Engineering Union will be developed: the prospects and possible forms of interaction were identified within the framework of the talks. Representatives of the Russian Engineering Union expressed interest in the transfer to the Presidential Library for the digitization of historical and modern materials, as well as museum and exhibition exhibits in order to perpetuate them in history.
