The grand opening of the regional center of the Presidential Library took place in Yekaterinburg

March 15, 2018 the regional center of the Presidential Library was opened on the basis of the V. G. Belinsky Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library. The solemn event was attended by the Deputy Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Pavel Krekov, the Minister of Culture of the Sverdlovsk region Svetlana Uchaykina and other heads of state authorities and cultural institutions of Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region, as well as Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Yekaterinburg Plamen Petkov.

Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin, Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in St. Petersburg Svetlozar Panov took part in the video conferencing mode at the opening of the regional center.

According to Alexander Vershinin, the regional center of the Presidential Library on the basis of the Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library will provide active methodological assistance, coordinate efforts in the implementation of common projects: the selection and digitization of documents, the holding of mass cultural and educational and scientific educational activities.

The main tasks of the Center are to reveal the richest collections of the Presidential Library, to realize scientific and educational projects of local lore, and to create thematic digital collections associated with the history and culture of the Urals. Another important function is the provision of a coordinating and methodological center for libraries and other cultural institutions in the Sverdlovsk region.

The Sverdlovsk region is the birthplace of many outstanding figures of science, culture and politics. The Presidential Library aspires to reveal the significance of this region in the economy and life of the country; its collection "The Sverdlovsk region: pages of history" presents statistical materials, studies, essays and photographs of the XIX - XX centuries, they reflect the geographical, demographic, socio-economic and socio-political aspects of the history of the Sverdlovsk region.

Cooperation between the Sverdlovsk region and the Presidential Library is actively developing. In the territory of the region, the centers for remote access to the information resources of the library are open in a variety of structures: public authorities, universities, military schools, innovation centers and, of course, libraries. And on February 28, 2018, within the framework of the launch of the “Big Information Yekaterinburg” project, which is being implemented with the support of the Municipal Library Association of the city, it was announced that 14 remote access centers to the Presidential Library resources in the Sverdlovsk Region were open.

Today the digital library of the Presidential Library contains more than 600 thousand units of storage. Among them - unique materials, archival documents reflecting the history of Russian statehood, theory and practice of law, as well as Russian as a state language of the Russian Federation.
