Summary The Kiev province received its beginning in the first division of the state in the province in 1708 and included 55 cities.In 1719, it was divided into 4 provinces: Belgorod, Kyiv, Oryol and Sevsky.The provincial rule in the Kyiv province was established in 1775. In 1781, it was transformed into governorship as part of 9 counties.In 1796, a new Kiev province was established from part of the counties of the Kiev, Kyiv and Volyn governors, and the part of the province, located on the Left Bank of the Dnieper, went to the Little Russian province.The administrative-territorial division finally took shape by the beginning of the twentieth century, when there were 12 counties and 205 volosts in the province
