Summary The Vilna province was formed in 1795 after the third section of the Commonwealth and the accession to the Russian Empire of the West Belarusian and Lithuanian lands.The Vilenskaya province was originally shared in the counties of the Braslavsky, Vilensky, Vilkomirsky, Zavileisky, Kovensky, Oshmyansky, Rossien, Telshevsky, Troksky, Upitsky, Shavelsky.During the administrative-territorial reforms in 1797, he was merged with the Slonim province in one Lithuanian province with the provincial rule in Vilna.Under Alexander I, the Lithuanian province in 1801 was divided into the Vilna province (until 1840 was called the Lithuanian-Vilensky province) and the Grodno province (former Slonim province).In 1920, the territory of the Vilnius province was divided between Poland, Lithuania and the Belarusian SSR
