On March 21, 2012, the Presidential Library of Boris Yeltsin hosted two meetings on the development of standardized formats for the presentation and exchange of archival descriptions in machine-readable form. Specialists of leading libraries, archives of the country from Moscow and St. Petersburg and representatives of leading domestic companies producing software for libraries and archives took part in the meetings. The meetings were held in video-conferencing with the Reserve Center of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library in Moscow. During the first meeting, information was presented on the outcomes and decisions of the IFLA Standing Committee of UNIMARC to add additional fields and data elements to describe archival materials on the proposals of the National Service for the Development of the RUSMARC Format System. The second meeting was the fifth meeting of the Joint Working Group on Elaboration of Principles and Approaches to Combining Representation and Access to Library, Archival and Museum Resources in Accordance with Modern International Standards. |
