Location: From a private collection. - On the souvenir badge "Brest Fortress" the Kholm Gate is shown - one of the four gates of the Ring Barracks leading to the citadel of the Brest Fortress, named after the former name of the city of Helm, as the road from the gate led to this city. Built in classical style in the beginning of the XIX century. The gates on the outer facade were decorated with turrets, which have survived to this day partly, since they were badly damaged at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. June 22, 1941, the garrison of the fortress was one of the first to take the blow of the German fascist invaders. Every day defenders of the fortress had to beat 7-8 attacks, flamethrowers were used. The organized defense of the fortress lasted almost a month. For the fortitude of the defenders of the Brest Fortress and in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, on May 8, 1965 the Brest Fortress was awarded the honorary title "Hero Fortress". Since 1971 it is a memorial complex. The red bricks of the Kholm Gate preserved traces of bullets and shells. Today, this gate is a symbol of the Brest Hero Fortress
