Location: From a private collection. - Souvenir badge "Salaspils. 1941-1944" is dedicated to the memory of the victims of the concentration camp "Kurtengof", located on the territory occupied by Nazi Germany Latvia in the city of Salaspils, 18 km from Riga. It existed from October 1941 until the end of the summer of 1944. The official name is the Salaspils enlarged police prison and a labor training camp. The most notorious fame of this camp was due to the detention in it of young prisoners who were used to take blood for wounded German soldiers, as a result of which children quickly died. In 1967, the Salaspils memorial complex was established on the site of the camp. At the entrance to the complex is a massive asymmetric concrete wall, with a narrow cutout for the passage. There is an inscription on it in Latvian: "The ground is groaning beyond these gates." This is the gate of life and death. Behind them is a large field on which are located seven figures cast from coarse, pebbly concrete. Each of the figures is an allegory, in which the authors put the image of the martyrs of the camp. Each has its own name: "Unbroken", "Humiliated", "Protest", "Oath", "Rot Front", "Solidarity", "Mother". At the edges, in place of the burnt barracks - stylized concrete blocks. In the barred inserts, people leave flowers, and in place of the children's barracks lie toys brought. The field closes the circular road - the road of death. A metronome sounds .
