Ilya Chashnik - representative of the Suprematist direction in the Russian avant-garde. He graduated from the State Art and Practical Institute in Vitebsk (1922). Student of KS Malevich. Member of the artistic association "Approvers of New Art" (since 1920), participated in exhibitions of the association in Moscow and Leningrad (1920, 1923 gg.). He worked in Petrograd as an employee of the State Institute of Art Culture (1923-1926) and the Decorative Institute (1925-1926), the Committee of the Art Industry of the State Institute of the History of Art (1923-1926), and the State Porcelain Factory (1923-1924). I. Chashnik's works were presented at the exhibitions: "Exhibition of paintings of Petrograd artists of all directions for a 5-year period of activity 1918-1923" (May 1923), International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in Paris (1925), "Poster and Advertising after October" (November-December 1926), "Artists of the RSFSR for 15 years" (1932-1933, Leningrad / Moscow), etc. Materials of the site are used Art.ru.
