September 3, 2012 in The Presidential Library was presented with a new basic collection "The Russian People". The presentation of the collection took place on this day in the framework of the scientific and educational conference "The People - the Source of Power: From the Call of Rurik to the Internet Democracy" timed to the Day of Knowledge and the 1150th anniversary of the birth of Russian statehood. The students of St. Petersburg universities were presented by doctors of legal and historical sciences from the leading educational institutions of the country and a representative of the St. Petersburg Electoral Commission. A distinctive feature of the new collection was its scale and presentation of some of the materials at the "APEC Summit Week" in Vladivostok. Within the framework of the conference, a teleconference with the Russian Island took place, where representatives of the Presidential Library provide information and technology support to the events and the work of the APEC International Press Center 2012. It was stressed at the conference that one of the striking examples of national unity was the participation of citizens of the Russian Empire in the Patriotic War of 1812. At the exhibition "The Glorious Year of the People's War", opened in the Presidential Library on the same day, materials on the role of compatriots in the victory over the troops of Napoleon, the 200th anniversary of which is celebrated these days, are presented. The collection "The Russian People" will be actively replenished throughout the new thematic year, and conferences and exhibitions will reveal its content to a wide range of readers
