The house, on the facade of which a memorial plaque is placed, was built in 1865 by architect K. K. Anderson. In 1937-1942 the building housed a boarding school for children evacuated from Spain during the Civil War. 300 Spanish children lived and studied in boarding school before the Great Patriotic War, and during the siege winter of 1941. In early 1942, the boarding school was evacuated for the Ural Mountains to Central Asia. The older boys went to the front.
