Monument to Hero of the Soviet Union AM Matrosov is located in a small square at the intersection of Bolshoi Sampsonievsky Avenue and Alexander Matrosov Street. In honor of the Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Matveyevich Matrosov (1924-1943) in December 1952 in St. Petersburg Batenina street in Vyborgsky district was renamed. In the square on the street. Stalin, the 2nd Infantry Separate Battalion, Private Alexander Matrosov, in a battle near the village of Chernushki, the Pskov Region, on February 27, 1943, rushed to the German bunker and covered the machine gun with his body, saving the lives of his comrades.
