In 1812, the colonel, the chief of the Kiev Dragoon Regiment, commanded the 2nd Brigade (Kiev and Novorossiysk Dragoon Regiments) of the 4th Reserve Cavalry Corps, was in the rearguard of the 2nd Western Army, took part in battles at Mir, Novoselki, Saltanovka.
