In 1812, the colonel, the chief of the Kiev Dragoon Regiment, commanded the 2nd Brigade (Kiev and Novorossiysk Dragoon Regiments) of the 4th Reserve Cavalry Corps, was in the rearguard of the 2nd Western Army, took part in battles at Mir, Novoselki, Saltanovka. Distinguished in the Shevardino battle, during which he was wounded. Returned to the regiment in September 1812 in Tarutino camp. Participated in the Maloyaroslavets battle and in the case of Vyazma.
