Early in 1812, the Ladoga Infantry Regiment, commanded by Savoyini, was part of the 1st Brigade of the 26th Infantry Division in the 7th Infantry Corps of the 2nd Western Army. Participated in the battle of Saltanovka, in the battle near Smolensk. For the distinction under Borodino was produced on December 3, 1812, in the rank of Major-General and appointed commander of the brigade.
