Podil is a historical district of Kiev, one of the oldest in the city. The first settlements on Podol belong to the beginning of our era. In the times of Kievan Rus - the trade and craft center of the city. All R. ХІІІ century. actually becomes the main area of Kiev. From the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. here were the Magistrate, the Kiev Brotherhood, the Kiev Academy, etc. After the fire of 1811, new streets were laid, which were mostly preserved to the present day. Naberezhno-Khreschatytska Street was laid along the Dnieper shore, laid in the 40-50's. ХІХ century, with numerous buildings, warehouses and floating piers.
