It was built in 1690-1696. architect O. Startsev in the style of the Ukrainian Baroque at the expense of Hetman I. Mazepa as a monument to soldiers who died for the Fatherland. It was a grand building, topped by a high central dome. The facades, especially the western facades, were richly decorated. The main entrance with the pediment ended with five small glazes decorated with stucco patterns. The same patterns - on window frames. The cathedral had a semi-unique unique baroque iconostasis carving. On high square pedestals near the temple were installed artillery pieces in memory of the defenders of the Motherland. The temple was not preserved.
