The collection of materials included 25 letters of former fighters of the Surazh partisan detachment of the Vperyod brigade to their comrade-in-arms and friend Natalia Berdnikova. After uniting partisan detachments with the Red Army at the end of 1943, many partisans went to the front in the army ranks. Scattered around the various military units and fronts of the war, the fighters maintained contact with Surazh in correspondence with N. G. Berdnikova.

Natalia Berdnikova (born in 1925) - PhD in chemistry, veteran of the Great Patriotic War war. In 1941-1943 years. was a fighter-scout of the Surazh partisan detachment of the Vperyod brigade: she took an active part in organizing an underground printing house in the city of Surazh, distributed Sovinformburo summaries, leaflets, and appeals. As part of the sabotage group, she took part in operations to launch the echelons of the enemy under the escarpment and in the undermining of roads on the Orsha-Unecha railway.
