The state nature reserve "Stolby" is located on the north-western spurs of the Eastern Sayan, bordering the Central Siberian plateau. The natural boundaries of the reserve territory are the right tributaries of the Yenisey: in the north-east - the Bazaikha river, in the south and south-west - the rivers of Mana and Bolshaya Slizneva. From the north-east "Pillars" adjoin the city of Krasnoyarsk. The reserve was founded in 1925 on the initiative of the city residents to preserve natural complexes around picturesque rocks - syenitic remains. Currently, the area of ​​the reserve is 47 219 hectares.
