On January 19, Orthodox Christians celebrate one of the most important, twelve–day holidays - Epiphany, or Epiphany of the Lord. On the eve of this day, in the evening, festive divine services are held in all Orthodox churches, during which the rite of consecration of water is performed. First, the water consecration takes place in the church, and then, after the procession, in the reservoirs closest to it. After that, believers and everyone else plunge into an ice hole called the Jordan.
On the Presidential Library's portal, one can view digital copies of documents and rare publications dedicated to the Epiphany traditions in Russia.
