Commander of Soyuz-32, Soyuz T-9, Soyuz TM-5. February 25, 1979 - August 19, 1979, 175 days 35 minutes 37 seconds, the longest flight at the time. On August 15, 1979, together with V. V. Ryumin, he made an unscheduled spacewalk for 1 hour 23 minutes. During the second flight, June 27 - November 23, 1983, with A. P. Aleksandrov, he made 2 spacewalks to save the Salyut-7 station. The third flight, August 29 - September 7, 1988, took place together with V. V. Polyakov and the Afghan cosmonaut Abdul-Ahad Momand to the Mir orbital station.
