One of the Saint-Petersburg bakeries opened "The Siege Bread" exhibition marking the anniversary of the beginning of the Siege of Leningrad, on September 8, 2020.

It highlights the distribution of food in the besieged city, the supply of the raw materials and new recipes. A large number of historical photographs of bakers showcase the work of the bakery during the war. The exposition also includes items of the besieged everyday life and documents testifying to the terrible food situation in besieged Leningrad and the famine of 1941 and 1942. The exhibition will also provide the stories of people who worked at the bakery.

The bakery, which operated during the years of the Siege, is still turning out products.

During the war, the work of Leningrad bakeries was not interrupted for a single day. Shellings, electricity and water supply shortages, and other difficulties could not stop the work of the bakeries.
