
Internet resources: New All-European service iTranslate4.eu coming soon
Russian company PROMT, which specializes in linguistic IT-solutions, became the partner of the new project, aimed at development of online translator, which is going to bring together all European languages. Ten leading European linguistic software developers with support of EU are working on the creation of iTranslate4.eu. Its launch is expected the next year.
The project investment cost amounts to €4 million. PROMT company, a sole Russian developer among the project’s participants is represented by its German branch. Among other participants of the project are: Research Institute for Linguistics Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Hungary), MorphoLogic (Hungary), SYSTRAN (France), Linguatec (Germany), pwn.pl (Poland), SkyCode (Bulgaria), Amebis (Slovenia), Sunda (Finland), Trident MT (Latvia).
The service will offer translation of 42 languages, not only all European but also world languages like Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Hindi and many others. To translate the text it will be necessary to type or paste it in the special website’s window, or paste a URL into the translation window for the website’s translation. Instant messages translation will be implemented as an application, built in relevant services. What is more the website will launch its own chat, enabling multilingual users communicate with each other without language barriers. RSS feed translation will be also available on the website.
The service will perform the following functions: language automatic identification, spell-checker, virtual keyboard, search with translation on Internet, choice of the program-translator.
